This is my 'traffic lights' appraisal of the current readiness of Mediawiki Foundation for Wikidiagrams. Early days. A long way from being ready.
I am hopeful that over time more of the traffic lights will turn green, and Wikimedia will cherry pick my changes - possibly improving on them. I may be wrong, and instead some of the currently amber lights may turn red.

MAYBE | Commercial AspectsWikidiagrams has some commercial aspects such as the related Patreon. The funding model has to be 'aligned' with Wikipedia's mission, rather than profiting off it, if the software is to be adopted. |

MAYBE | References on DiagramsThe biochemical pathway diagrams are useful, but they don't have the full annotations/references that would be required for them to be used in Wikipedia itself. |

YES | Sankey DiagramsThe 'Sankey Diagrams' are easy to create. You can create them here and import into Wikipedia, as pngs or gifs. Wikidiagrams can be used just to create them. |

NO | Javascript SafetyWikimedia is intensely careful about Javascript because of security concerns. Wikidiagrams uses Javascript. Right at the moment the full Wikidiagrams Javascript code would not survive the kind of security audit that Wikipedia would need to put it through. Therefore it's not currently suitable.

NO | 'Griefer' Safety,An interactive diagram can hide content from reviewers that only becomes apparent on interaction. Wikipedia would have to police images for pornography and advertising hidden at the time of review. There is no satisfactory way to review the interactive diagrams yet. |

NO | Not Invented HereWikidiagrams was created and developed outside the Wikimedia foundation. It isn't exactly what Wikimedia staff would have developed themselves for use in Wikipedia. |
