Sankey

tree diagrams of all kinds

Coming soon - An interactive interface for tree diagrams

When Wikidiagrams is further along, you will be able to edit tree diagrams on this page. The picture below is just a place-holder.

Tree diagrams have numerous applications. Mindmaps and 'the evolutionary tree of life' are but two examples. The Sankey diagram has an organic free-flowing style that makes it ideal for infographics.

In a conventional image editor you might build a Sankey diagram up using separate lines. You'd use a patterned brush for these lines. The tree diagrams in Wikidiagrams extend the idea of a patterned brush.

  • Joins between lines as well as the lines themselves can be patterned
  • The patterns don't have to be repeating. Patterns can be specified and fine tuned 'outside' the diagram
  • The width and other parameters of the lines can be varied along their length
  • Some simple 3D effects are supported, making it easier to use the diagrams to show blood vessels or coiling DNA.
  • The resulting diagrams are dynamic. You can click to expand or shrink branches.
